ðŸŽļ Enter Gibby

6 months ago, most of the time I spent on the web is admiring Gibson Les Pauls on YouTube being played by people. Today, I hold one in my arms. Well, for those who reads my previous post, I intended to get an Epiphone Les Paul 1960's Tribute Plus and it is supposed to arrive this December. But, things happened, everything took a change, and I can only thank God for it. ðŸ™ðŸŧ

3 weeks ago, still in my wait for the Epiphone after settling all the payment with Swee Lee, I received an email that will change everything. That email was from Swee Lee, telling me my Epiphone's shipment will be delayed because the factory encountered some problems. It is expected to be a 3-month delay. Because I already paid 50% deposit, they know they are in the wrong. And they offered me a proposal that I took 3 days to accept. ⚡

They offered me a Gibson Les Paul Studio 50's Tribute w/Humbuckers for the exact same price I am paying for my Epiphone. It was a hell of a decision. I am a picky pickup guy. The Epiphone contains Gibson Classic 57 pups while the Gibson contains Gibson 490r and 498t pups. Well, the classics sounds better to me. Then there isn't push/pull pots in the Gibson and also no SlimTaper neck. So the Epiphone got better playability than the Gibson. Of course there are more subtle differences too. But when I think of the 3-month extra wait, I went for the Gibson. I also changed the Epiphone hard case to Gibson's. Paid a little extra more but still worth it. ðŸ’ļ

I went to Swee Lee Garage 2 days ago to collect it. My, oh my, a true blue USA-made Gibson. But there is just a little problem. The truss rod is blank and the pickups are bare. So I requested Swee Lee to throw in a "Studio" engraved truss rod cover along for free. Swee Lee also threw in a free strap and Ernie Ball strings (which sucks). As for the pickups, I went to Guitar Connection (GC) to install Gibson nickel pickup covers. The last thing I will ever want is dust spoiling my pickups. The founder, Kelvin Ho, looks scary, but has a heart of compassion. He noticed I am still a student so he gave me a discounted price. He added that my action was too low and frets are uneven, so he did a setup for me. I only held Gibby (I shall name my Gibson Gibby from now on) for an hour before I left it at GC. After 2 days of restless nights, Gibby is back home, finally. ðŸ˜‚

Welcome to my team, Gibby! ðŸ’ŠðŸŧ

It's in a Satin Vintage Sunburst colour. Amazing amazing colour. 2 different colour tones when there is light and when there isn't. ☀

The golden shining Gibson logo is just wow. And of course the Studio truss rod cover. 😂
Just look at that colour!

So these are the photos for now. I haven't even started playing it. So I am going to do it now. 😊 Time to hear that legendary sound❗ The legacy begins now...
