😍 Happy Birthday

This has got to be the CRAZIEST purchase of my entire music journey. I literally just bought not one, but TWO, limited edition boutique pedals that I don't really need. I'd give one more: Both are versions of the SAME pedal!

Some of you may know I have always regretted selling a few particular pedals. The Timmy Overdrive, SP Compressor, Boss DD-5, just to name a few. Those are great pedals no doubt, but the only pedal I could ever relate to is the Fulltone Obsessive Compulsive Drive. I have mentioned this before, but I'll say it again. I do have a little OCD in my life because I like things neat and organised. Printed in a Comic Sans font, the Fulltone OCD is just so ironic, which makes it all the more fun!

This is a very classic overdrive, originally based in the Tubescreamer-family line. Combined with the Rat-family traits, the Fulltone OCD was born. Very open-sounding and have much more gain on tap than similar drives in the same range, this pedal into a cranked Marshall amp gotta be the best sound the world has ever heard!

Unfortunately, I don't have a Marshall amp. But I do have the Line 6 Helix, and in it are Marshall amp sims and a version of the Fulltone OCD emulation. Because of that, I sold off my first Fulltone OCD, a version 1.7. After a few months, I came to realise I made a mistake, but there was no way I could re-attain my beloved pedal. And so I waited...

And waited... Until this appeared.

I knew instantly the time has come. I didn't know what I was waiting for, but in that moment I knew. I HAD to get my hands on this pedal. I just had to. But it wasn't easy. Fulltone has this strict policy of overseas shipment, and unfortunately, Singapore isn't fated to receive one of these. I was so dismayed. Then I just went back to the waiting game...

Until the Fulltone OCD-Ge appeared on eBay from other sellers. And that's when the deal got through and I got myself this limited edition Fulltone OCD Germanium. But wait, there's more!

And as if one isn't enough, I passed by another similarly priced OCD in limited edition Candy Apple Red colour. I pondered longer and harder for this one, because this is gonna be the SECOND Fulltone OCD which I don't already need. But what gives, I'd love these pedals to death and the colours red and blueish green makes a wonderful pair!

Just under $500 (Red costed me $242 while Ge costed me $249), I've got in my embrace a limited edition custom shop pair of pedals that I once loved so much in my life. As happy as I can announce, this pair of pedals probably will be more of a collection than be of tools to me. Just like how Boss released their BOX-40 limited edition collection, I choose to believe this is Fulltone's take on it!

Of course, I also already have plans to integrate it into use with my HX Stomp. Forgoing the G10 and dual switch, I could put this pair of OCDs right beside the HX Stomp to drive any amp combos I can think of. That would make for really really cool tweaking sessions!

Have briefly tested the OCD Red and found that it relies on the amplifier used a lot! Certain amplifiers make it sound dark while others bring it up bright and crisp! I believe the OCD-Ge will be the best version Fulltone has ever make!

Collected the OCD-Red last Saturday (19th October 2019) and just nice on my birthday today the OCD-Ge arrived! What nice birthday presents for myself this year!
