🎎 Holding Nothing Back

Greetings!!! Since school started back in late October, I hadn't had much time to record guitar covers. If I'm not wrong, my last cover was during early November, which is a long time ago, well, to me at least. Today, I finally had the house to myself since everyone was out and I took this chance to record another cover. This song's name is Holding Nothing Back, by Jesus Culture. Sorry if I messed up the solo because I was too fast at one point in time. ðŸš€

It's a very exciting praise song due to the familiar lead guitar intro and the awesome rock vibe throughout the song. Electric guitar parts are plentiful and well-sounding. I could hear distinct reverb during the lead lines so I added Hall of Fame's ambient reverb sparingly. I also added some delay notes to add flavor since the tone is quite dry without delay. I set the tempo using the tap tempo according to the drummer's tempo in the song. Because of the not-so-light distortion, I added noise gate just to be sure it's all quiet when it must be. Finally, SP compressor for the very sweet tone as usual. ðŸŽ

Gibson LP Studio → SP Compressor → Boss OS-2 → MXR Smart Gate → Boss DD-5 → TC Hall Of Fame → IBZ10G

A side note, I do feel like removing the pickguard of my Les Paul because of the disturbing clicking sound my pick makes when it is being slammed onto the pickguard. It is heard pretty clearly when I switch to alternate strumming instead of constant downstrokes. It can be heard at the 4:05 to 4:19 mark in the video since my microphone was pretty close to my guitar. And that is also why I played downstrokes throughout the song. Seems like it's time I have to really buy a legit microphone and not rely on my smartphone every time. That way, no one can hear the metallic sound of strings being strummed. Other than that, everything's good. ðŸ˜Š

I recently joined a Facebook group called the Pedalboards of Doom because I'm addicted to pictures of pedalboards (similar disorder to GAS). I posted a picture of my TC Electronic pedals because I swapped the knobs and covers and figured people would love it. And they did. Over 200 likes on that post alone! Wow! Someone even pointed out the Christmas color scheme and I couldn't help but feel that it is absolutely spot on. Look! ðŸ‘€

Merry Christmas to you! ðŸŽ…🏞

With that, I end this post, and this year too. I will be posting one last post on the 31st of December to summarise my 2016. So stay tuned for that! Once again, have a blessed Christmas! ðŸŽ„🎄🎄

O come, let us sing unto the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the Rock of our salvation! Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song.
