🔊 Line 6 Spider IV 15

My kind of stack

Super duper inpromptu post today! So yesterday night, as I was preparing to configure the pedals and amp settings I would be using for my next recording (which is today but...), my amp died. My Ibanez amp died!!!!!! ðŸ˜Ŧ

My very first amp just died!

Well, it has been more than 3 years since I bought this amp from Swee Lee on my very first day into electric guitar! I remember walking into the store and telling the salesperson I want a "church amp" because at that time, I am into electric guitar just to play in church. He mistook me for wanting a cabinet and was pleasantly surprised. After learning I was a beginner, he then introduced me to this IBZ10G. It was a great amp ever since I bought it. Today, I am still reluctant to let it go because it fits just perfectly in my cupboard.

Sadly, it finally died. It showed signs of dying few months back. It started performing volume swells occasionally, then it went on to muting itself sporadically, and finally yesterday, it decided to stay clean for good. I switched on all 3 of my dirt pedals on full volume and gain, yet it still stayed clean, like legit clean sounds. That's it. Goodbye little Ibanez amp! ðŸ˜Ē

Then, I went on this desperate hunt on Carousell for a new amp, or a second hand one in this case. I was stuck between the Marshall MG15CF and this Line 6 Spider IV 15. Somehow, I remember being told to stay away from Marshall's MG series so Line 6 it is. New one costs about $150 and I really don't wish to put in that much into a practice amp for now. Clinched a pretty good deal on Carousell for $100 second-hand, not bad at all.

The seller kept this amp in great condition. Initial soundcheck already got me in love with this amp. The clean channel sounds far better compared to little Ibanez. Not to mention now there are 3 levels of dirt for me to choose, and a wide array of built-in effects (which I won't be using much). I already have my pedalboard take care of most of my needs. Well, one surprising pre-loaded effect this beast have is the noise gate. Ever since the MXR Smart Gate was kicked out, I had to put up with the hiss again. Now, things are great with this built-in noise gate. All in all, I don't think I'm ever gonna let go of this amp. It's really one hell of an amp for $100. So, back to soundcheck...

Oh, did I mention something about recording? Hmm... ðŸĪ”
