With the Nano Muff gone, my board is short of one pedal again. I have seriously contemplated on filling out the final dirt pedal with the Suhr Riot Reloaded, but my pockets cry mercy. With the gritty OCD, the Suhr Riot will just be another gritty distortion pedal. Why not fill that space with an in-between pedal? Something in between my OCD and TS9...
I do see a lot of forums comparing Soul Food to TS9, and many suggests stacking them. Other stacks I've read included Soul Food with the OCD, again, something I have. So I naturally veered towards this pedal due to the fact that it works well with OCD and TS9.
I went to TY Music Center to buy the pedal brand new because no one on Carousell is selling it. Also, no one has listed it for a long time already. Being such a popular pedal, I could see why. Fortunately, TY has them in stock. I went over after work today to buy the pedal. TY actually lets me test it out first, just like Ebenex with the OCD. To be honest, it does sound as sweet as how the YouTube reviews said. But the treble was a little too ear-piercing for me. But nothing a little play around with EQ can't mask.
At $99 brand new, it came with a pretty huge box. My Nano Muff box can't even compare to this one. Then I found out why. Apparently, the Soul Food comes with a 9V adapter included in the box. Wow! Talk about the pedal being so cheap already, now there's a free gift from EHX!
With that, I can sell off my existing adapter and keep this one as spare. After testing in the shop, it sounds amazingly good at low gain. Although lacking some mids, it is the perfect pedal in-between my OCD and TS9 (which covers the mids). I don't think I will ever let this pedal go as well. It's too good! Talking about OCD, it's the best drive I've ever used in my life! Hehe.
Next, a little update about life. Been trying to find time to record my next guitar cover. Already have a song in mind (Yours Forever), but couldn't find time due to work and family being at home most of the time. Anyways, today was my first day at work. So for the next 5 months, I'll see what I can achieve and make the most out of my weekends!
Stay tuned!!!
