🎎 Yours Forever

Yours Forever, one of Hillsong's most energetic songs! This is the toughest guitar cover I've ever played but it is the most fun! The riffs are all high intensity and the feel is crazy!

Yours Forever - Hillsong United

Song itself is pretty straight-forward. Only that solo before the bridge is problematic for me. I mean, I can play the solo and hit the correct notes, but I failed to jump onto the B power chord correctly in between both solos. So when I jumped to the B power chord, I lost my momentum. It can be heard clearly in the video.

Then there is the bridge. First part of the bridge was okay; it was meant to be a build up. When the bridge is repeated again, the lead guitar is supposed to parallel the drum rhythm. But for some reason, I am afraid I will mess up so I played the exact same build up pattern, which sounds too anti-climatic. This is something I have to keep practising.

Effects used are just these 4 pedals. I would say the OCD rocks really hard this time! I am super satisfied with my tone. Like really, it sounds heavenly compared to the OS-2. I set it in Low Peak mode by accident and it was already too late when I realised it. Thus, the palm mutes sounded really forced. Mild dotted 8th delay was used to give it the "Hillsong" vibe. Mild reverb was also used to let the palm mutes ring out.

Now for the usual life update. First week of work was fun. Like I said, once work starts, it will be very difficult for me to find time for a guitar cover. Today was just perfect because yesterday was Good Friday (Public Holiday) and there wasn't much work during this first week. I know there are 2 Public Holidays in May and my church camp in June. I will most probably use those times to the fullest! :)

So stay tuned and God bless!

📖 Psalm 95:1-2

O come, let us sing unto the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the Rock of our salvation! Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song.
