Wow how long has it been? Exactly 3 months! 3 whole months since my last guitar cover. I have been real busy, with work and with the 2 other pedalboards I'm building right now. Nevertheless, here's the guitar cover!
Recorded the cover at my balcony again because I'm very lazy to set everything up in the living room. I also just realised I can play the song from my laptop into the Helix and still not record the song itself, which means I can headphone out from the Helix throughout the cover and only record my guitar. Amazing! This means lesser cables and devices!
This is a very fun song to play. Very Hillsong-like, very energetic and a classic staple in many worship sets! Very easy riffs that aren't too difficult to pull off. I wanted to add more distortion in the lead lines at the Pre-Chorus and main riffs but it would be too muddy. Here's why:
I'm using the Match JMP patch by Worship Tutorials. It's a version 2.80 patch which means it was only released just yesterday. I believe I may be the first few to see this version come to life! The drives are not the usual Klon, Timmy, TS9 trifecta. This time, WT used both sides of the King of Tone pedal and a Zendrive.
I would say this is one of their most awesome sounding patch I've ever heard. The King of Tone is truly one amazing pedal! Thankfully I've already sold off my Prince of Tone because there would totally be no use for that pedal right now. The red and yellow side works really well with each other. Coupled with the Zendrive, I have all the tone I need.
And then there's the time-based effects. Used in this cover is a dottted 8th tape delay running into an Empress ghost reverb. I have never used the Empress reverb before but this variant blew my mind away! In the patch there's also an El-Capistan dual delay but I didn't want to overkill the song.
Well that's all about the cover. Now for a little update in my music life. I have an AMT M2 coming my way and an OCD-Ge on pre-order. The M2 is here to pair up with the Chameleon Cab for the fun of it, while the OCD-Ge is gonna be my most coveted pedal ever. I already love the OCD so much and now they are releasing the Custom Shop Limited Edition of it? Count me in!
If I really can get my hands on the OCD-Ge (hope their shipping policy benefits me), that makes 4 pedals on my 2nd Pedaltrain Nano, which hopefully means I can start making my way to the Fender Vintera Stratocaster. But that's too far a story. For now, my main aim is to start learning how to create Helix patches from scratch!
