This song is so amazing that Planetshaker's own lead guitarist did a cover of this same song, with guitar licks that are even more unique than the original. However, I played the cover in such a way that I consider the most efficient for a stage set.
For my lead part, I used the HP mode of the Fulltone OCD to achieve the high gain sound, with about 12 o'clock drive on the Distortron. Used WT's Super Thunder preset on the Stomp because it handles dirt really well. Increased the mix of the plate reverb to 40% to give the lead tone some more space! Lead part consists of both the starting features and heavy power chords throughout the song! Love it!!!
For the 2nd lead (well, this song ain't really rhythmy), I used the LP mode of the OCD with the same settings but cranked the Distortron down way lower to simulate a lighter drive, but still very Planetshakery. The clean tone at the verses and pre-choruses really shines with this combo!
For the bass, super simple. No frills no hassle, just 4 notes (and 1 more on the bridge). Acoustic also pretty simple. I added my own plucking during the quieter parts to give the song some life. If you listen closely, I slapped a hall reverb onto my acoustic tone because it sounds super duper sweet!!!
I really liked how the cover turned out, although I'd prefer a humbucking guitar for this song to be honest. But at my current journey in life, I don't even have time to fully utilise a 2nd guitar. So that'll have to wait for now. University is real busy!!!
