🔊 A Roaring Return

Well well, what do we have here? Funny story actually. Remember in the last post I said I wanted to get the new Jethro Thinline set up by a professional? It happened way sooner than I originally thought. Today is 2 days after the Thinline arrived, and I've already got everything settled.

So I found this RiverTree Music on Google and decided to give them a shot at guitar setup. Well, it turned out to be one of the best decisions I've made in a while. Dude in the picture is called Walter, and he's the owner of RiverTree Music, together with his wife, Summer, who settles all the shop logistics.

Can I just say that Walter and Summer are the cutest couple I know that owns a guitar shop? Like seriously, for the 2 hours I was there at their shop today, Summer kept me entertained with interesting conversations about their lives while Walter worked on my guitar. Walter has got a Masters in Mechanical Engineering but decided to venture out to his guitar passion near retirement!

Walter set up my guitar to be the one of the best guitars I've ever played. I bought a new set of Gotoh locking tuners for him to replace because just as I suspected, the stock locking tuners were sketchy. Surprisingly, the nut is bone! After the change of locking tuners, however much I whack the tremolo, the guitar stays in tune. Wow!

$80 for the new set of tuners and $90 for his services. Feeling rich recently yeah. I'm definitely gonna find them for all my future guitar stuff. Really amazing! With the sale of the Roland TD4KP today for $300, the costs of today's spendings have been offset!

And here's the reason for my punny post title. I used the amplifier icon because there is indeed a new amplifier in my arsenal!!! So when Walter was setting up my guitar, he used this little amplifier to test the sounds. And immediately I was intrigued. I was intrigued because I thought he was using an actual full-sized amplifier, but he's not!!!

He said he purchased this from Davis Guitar and I immediately went to Davis to buy one after the setup. The Laney Mini-STB-Lion was the most natural clean sounding mini amplifier I have ever heard. Like legit dude. I knew I had to buy one the moment I heard it.

For $110, this thing is packed to the brim. First and foremost, it's a stereo speaker, meaning there are two 3-watt speakers inside. Then it's also a bluetooth speaker. And finally it can run on battery or powered by a supply! Wow!

And last but not least, it looks classy as hell. There's something sweet with all these amplifiers looking classy! I'm definitely keeping this little guy for a while. Having no physical speaker for my electric guitars really suck big time!

Guess with this, I'm slowly returning to the guitar life??? Some dude even offered $850 for my Edcaster, setting things up for a potential remake of the Edcaster!!! Danggg!
