ðŸŽĩ Exploring My Own Pedalboard

ðŸšĻðŸšĻðŸšĻ Update!!! This post have been renewed as a totally new post! The gear I am using now differs a lot from the gear listed in this post as this was written a long time ago! Head over here to view the more recent post!!! ðŸšĻðŸšĻðŸšĻ

I figured I will need to do this sooner or later. So why not start now and improvise later on? And here it is, the reasons why each pedal is on my pedalboard (version 1.01). ðŸ˜Š

Pedals that I have already gotten (as of today, 28 January 2016):

Boss Overdrive/Distortion OS-2 (Sold as of 23rd March 2017)
This is my favouritest pedal of all time, because it basically a 2-in-1 pedal. It is also my main dirt pedal. Nothing much to talk about though, everyone uses dirt at some point of their electric guitar life. It is a necessary pedal to me. :)

Boss Compression Sustainer CS-3 (Sold as of 30th October 2016)
I use this pedal to increase my sustain in some cases for the dirty tones as well as manage the volume equally. Since I play high notes a lot, they tend to be softer the higher frets I go. This CS-3 takes care of that. [Replaced by Xotic SP Compressor]

Boss Digital Reverb RV-5 (Sold as of 13th October 2016)
Well, haven't got the chance to explore other reverb pedals so I'm now sticking to RV-5. Reverb is simple; I use it to add echo to my tones. Usually, I will use a little reverb in my solos to make it less stiff. But too much will mess up the solo. For cleaner parts, I can use reverb however I like, but it will be paired batter with some strange sounding effects that doesn't sound like a guitar. Hahaha. [Replaced by TC Electronic Hall of Fame Reverb]

Boss Digital Delay DD-3 (Sold as of 26th October 2016)
What's more to say about this one? The legendary DD-3 is here to carry the team. Couldn't ask for a better digital delay than this pedal. The function of delays are simple. It just repeats the note over and over until it spazzles out. Great substitute if you are tired of fast alternate-picking. [Replaced by MXR Carbon Copy Analog Delay]

Line 6 M5 Stompbox Modeler (Sold as of 16th November 2016)
My "Swiss Army Knife". This pedal will stay on my board as long as I play guitar, because I know it has my back covered, Whatever effect I'm lacking at any particular moment, the M5 is here to save the day. From distortions to delays to modulations, this pedal can do it all. Why wouldn't anyone want it? :)

Pedals I have yet to get:

Ibanez Tubescreamer TS-9 (Obtained as of 8th September 2016, Sold as of 27th January 2018)
I have seen online reviews about this so-called legendary dirt pedal. Haven't personally tried it before but it does seems like a great pedal. Will be using it as a main distortion and set my OS-2 to overdrive mode most of the time.

MXR Smart Gate M135 (Obtained as of 24th September 2016, sold as of 22nd February 2017)
I will place my noise gate after my distortion pedals to remove the unwanted hum. But till now, on my humbucker Les Paul, there isn't any issue with noise, yet.

MXR Boost/Line Driver MC401 (Never got the chance to own it)
I have seen this pedal on most of Slash's pedalboards. So that's my number one inspiration to getting this pedal. I need the same boost Slash uses in his solos to boost the high notes louder. :)

Jim Dunlop Cry Baby Classic Wah GCB95F (Obtained as of 14th February 2016, Sold as of 15th November 2016)
Needless to say, Dunlop Cry Baby is one of the best wah in the market. Wah can do lots of things. It can change the sound drastically or add a certain pint of craziness to the tone. But it is also a crazy hard-to-control pedal.

Ernie Ball Volume Pedal Jr (Obtained as of 20th November 2016, Sold as of May 2018)
By right, I don't need this pedal at all if I just use the volume knobs on my guitar. That being said, turning the knobs on my guitar will directly affect the amount of sound provided by my guitar. So that's not a good idea if I need to feed louder into my dirt pedals. Also, another use is the using it to phase a sound in at the start of a song.

That's all for now. I will do a more detailed version once I explore deeper into these effects. 😊

O come, let us sing unto the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the Rock of our salvation! Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song.
