Yet another expensive pedal reached my pedalboard. This is the Electro-Harmonix Nano Polyphonic Octave Generator. Nevermind that long complicated name. This effect is very simple. It tracks the signal of the electric guitar's note and generates either an up-octave or down-octave of that note, or both, and blends it into the output.
Basically, if there isn't a bassist in the band, the down-octave can cover some grounds. For cool 12-strings effect, the up-octave got it covered. For the awesome weird sounds, I could tap in both the octaves. This is the Nano version of the original EHX POG, which costs around the same price.
I went to Tanah Merah today early in the morning just to meet the seller. He originally wanted to sell the pedal at $250, but I bargained to $230 at his convenience. So I met up and the deal went smoothly. The pedal is in great condition and it even came with the box and adaptor. I am so happy that I went home right away to put in on pedalboard v2.3!!
I have seen this pedal on many worship pedalboards, To be honest, I am not really into Octaves effects at the beginning. I don't really play ambient riffs at home at all. Got a Corona Chorus to fill in the "Modulation" slot on my board. Didn't really use it at all so I sold that away. This Nano POG is next to fill in that slot. I have yet to test this pedal out but I believe I will keep this around much longer than the Chorus pedal.
And to be real honest, Electro-Harmonix makes some really tough pedals. The enclosures are compact and sturdy, and the knobs feels really smooth. Definitely worth the money. And definitely comparable to MXR, TC Electronic and Boss pedals!

I am leaving for a holiday trip to Bangkok on Thursday so I doubt I can record any videos for this month of June. See you next month then!
