🎬 God Is Able

Happy Independence Day my fellow Americans!!!

A month ago, I traded away my Gibson Les Paul for a Fender Classic Series '60s Stratocaster. The neck of the Les Paul was so chunky that I find myself veering more towards my other guitars. Hence I traded it away. Now, this Fender Stratocaster is one amazing guitar. Neck feels really comfortable in my hands and the sounds are the sweetest I've ever heard!

So today, I finally sat down to record a guitar cover. Had been busy throughout the month of June so I didn't really have time for the past month. The song that I chose for today is God Is Able, by Hillsong United. Click here for the video!

God Is Able is a powerful song! The heavy lead lines echoes throughout the song. Droff clearly knows what he is doing when he is playing for this song! Unfortunately, I messed up some parts (especially during the solo) because I'm still quite unfamiliar with the guitar.

As usual, SP Compressor is on throughout the song. However, I turned the "Blend" knob down because I wanted less distortion when I pick lightly. Fulltone OCD is a must in any song. Boss DD-5 is for the dotted 8th note that makes Hillsong so awesome. I wanted to turn on my Ibanez TS-9 as a boost during the solo because the solo couldn't cut through the mix with the OCD alone. But the pedal was too far away so I just went without it, hence making the solo sound thin!

And as some might have noticed, the angle of my video improved. Yes, it is no longer recorded from below. I have found some camera mounts in my cupboard and after combining the head of my selfie stick, I created this tripod look-a-like. I was able to point my front camera down with the help of some weights supporting the "tripod". Hence, I could video my whole guitar and yet not see my face!

And that's it! That's my take on 'God Is Able'. I have a couple more songs in queue for me to record. Some include 'This Is Amazing Grace' and 'Turn It Up'! Whatever the song next, it's my Telecaster's turn!

Oh, and this is a photo of my brand new ukulele. I brought this ukulele during my Bangkok Holiday Trip. You can read up about the trip here. It's a pretty sweet little guitar! Sounds and feels amazing; looks pretty decent too! I'm not gonna put this down as one of my official gears though. It's just a "for fun" instrument. :)

Till next time! God bless!
