What better way to return to analog pedals than get a pedal from a brand with "analog" in its name? Well, it's certainly nostalgia to touch analog pedals again. After the Helix changed my life, I never thought this day would come so soon.
I should have known when I purchased the HX Stomp out of impulse. I'm not known to do impulse purchases but something deep within tells me the HX Stomp is gonna change the world. That right there, is gut feeling to the purest level.
This right here though, is an unexpected return. The Analogman Prince of Tone pedal is so scarce in Singapore that it wasn't even part of my hesitation in this plan to return to the analog world. Initially wanted something along the lines of a Fulltone OCD or Friedman BE-OD because of their high gain capabilities.
However, when the Prince of Tone passed by on Carousell, I knew there and then that this was it. The 3 modes are really versatile, even more so than the OCD's low peak and high peak mode. Priced at $240, it was the exact same price as the one I sold for back in June 2018.
So on the 2nd of June 2019, I went to buy this pedal from a fellow guitarist who owns a Stomp too. He knew in update 2.8, Line 6 is gonna release the King of Tone effect in the Helix and it's a good time to sell it. I, however, need this pedal to release a free block in the Stomp. Quite possibly one of the best pedal purchased I made in my life, again.
This is where the story gets strange. Initial plans are to include an always-on reverb pedal after the HX Stomp. It's a no-brainer because every single patch would have a reverb block on anyways and saving a block is really promising. Now then, what's the colour of the Prince of Tone pedal?
Purple.
And then it struck me that I might very well go for another purple pedal to make the Nano board look extremely neat. Only one pedal came into my mind after seeing it on a lot of mini boards: The Hotone Vow Press volume/wah pedal.
Priced at $140 new at Swee Lee, it's a rather fair price for it being a 2-in-1 pedal. Furthermore, I have the sale of my Cry Baby Mini to back up the price, which I sold for $90 on 7th June 2019.
Given my love for using a volume pedal and occasionally a wah pedal, the Vow Press is extremely efficient at that task. A few strong points about the pedal caused the decision to ditch the reverb pedal entirely. Firstly, this volume pedal fits nicely on the Pedaltrain Nano. It's weird how many mini volume pedals can't really fit on this mini board. Don't even get me started that the Vow Press can become a wah pedal with a single click.

Secondly, the volume pedal would be first in chain, and the Prince of Tone second. This means HX Stomp will always be last, no matter what. Even if I swap around for the G10 to be on board, Stomp would still be dead last. This is very important to me as the headphone out jack is at the left side of the Stomp. With a reverb pedal there I wouldn't have enough space to plug my headphones in, which defeats the very purpose I'm going for a battery powered gig.
With such a huge decision made, I dare so make another decision. Analog pedals is a never-ending cycle. There is sure to be new pedals coming into my life every now and then. The ability to swap the stuff on-board is all the fun right there. What I can do to prevent spiralling is limit myself to minimum 1 pedal per half a year. Yeah that's right, ain't splashing money on gear like no tomorrow anymore.

**Update as of 17th July 2019: The Analogman Prince of Tone pedal was once again gone from my possession (sold for $230) because there is no way I'm fitting everything on a Pedaltrain Nano. Oh and Helix 2.8 already is gonna release the Prince of Tone copy anyway.
***Update as of 29th September 2019: The Hotone Vow Press has been sold for $100. Sadly it wasn't of enough use to me.
