❗️Seeing Red Again

Woah slow down there... So what started as a strong desire to purchase a limited edition Fulltone OCD Germanium became a reignited obsession with guitar pedals which led me to purchase another Fulltone OCD in limited edition Candy Red.

To make things "better", I have decided to put together another Pedaltrain Nano (my 5th time buying it?) filled with dirt pedals. With the red and teal colours of my OCDs as a basis, I began my hunt for another pair of red and teal dirt pedals from the same manufacturer.

While red coloured pedals are everywhere, it's super duper tough to find a teal coloured dirt pedal. I've finally found the perfect pair with Mad Professor. The Mighty Red Distortion and Little Green Wonder are a perfect pair. Both features white wordings and three knobs, just like my OCDs.

I didn't wanna dive into this hunt so quickly, because I got all the time in the world. But I just chanced upon the only one guy selling the Mighty Red Distortion on Carousell for $130 and so I jumped the gun. Mind you, these Mad Professor pedals go for over $200 new online.

The pedal was in a pretty bad condition despite seller marking it as "mint". I had to wipe all the oil off it and scrape clean its bottom. Re-pasted my own velcro and after some detailed dust-wiping, the pedal was shining brightly again.

I immediately went to A/B compare with my Fulltone OCD Red using my Edcaster. To my ears, the MRD was an extremely smooth sounding high-gain dirt pedal compared to my OCD, which was  mellower and tighter sounding. The MRD was actually so much smoother than a Suhr Riot I owned before.

Now the only pedal left to acquire is the Mad Professor Little Green Wonder. The "Tubescreamer" nature of the LGW, coupled with the high-gain MRD, mixed with dual custom shop Fulltone OCDs will really make my dirt selection a very versatile one.

Hope to one day hook it all up with my HX Stomp for a test run!
