As everyone can see, I finally got myself a bass guitar! Yay! It took me many many months of contemplation before I finally pulled the gun. Recently kept visiting Yamaha and kept trying out this particular model. Hands got so itchy that the only treatment was to buy it.
Unfortunately Yamaha only have the display set as the only TRBX174EW Sunburst available. I decided not to get the display set and order a brand new one on Carousell via user "maranathamusic" although they retail at $10 more than Yamaha at $319. They are supposedly a music school and have 783 positive reviews. The bass guitar arrived on 19th December, but I only collect it on the 23rd due to the disadvantages of staying in camp.
The sound quality of this passive bass is amazing. Surprisingly enough, there are a lot of songs that I can actually play because bass is rather easy to play. Also, the hybrid pickup configuration is quite cool. I actually do not know much about basses so having hybrid configuration is a good thing.
This very model is one of the best choices regarding beginner basses. At this price range, the only other competitor is the Ibanez GSR200M. I chose Yamaha because my current amplifier is Yamaha and both should be more compatible. Time to get the groove on!
The next piece of gear that came in is a rather ironic piece of gear. Remember I had a long tussle with eBay regarding this pedal called Suhr Riot Reloaded? Yeah, the new pedal that came in is the predecessor, the Suhr Riot.
Chanced upon it at $120 on Carousell 7 minutes after it was posted and I know that deal is the one I've been waiting for ever since the Riot feels hit me. On 19th December's nights out, I secured the pedal safely before I went home.
This pedal sounds amazing, like legit finally a worthy competitor against my OCD. The distortion sounds very clear and crisp, which is what I like. The level knob is similar to my OCD in terms of the range (it can get pretty loud). The drive knob at max will sound super good with the correct level of effect.

As of now, things are looking great on my pedalboard. There's just one problem left, my patch cables are giving way. The Lava Tightrope cables are beginning to fizz out upon small movements. It's getting more irritating as time goes. I am considering to get the Free The Tone ones instead and try my luck on custom cabling again.
The Tubescreamer TS-9 looks like it's ready to leave my board. How about one last pedal to get before I stop buying for many months to come? What does the Prince of Tone think?
