🎎 My Future Decided

My future indeed has already been decided, not by me though, but by God. Seriously, when I signed the contract that secured me a job for the next 5 years with the military, I did it by faith. Ok emo thoughts aside, yay to finally having some free time to record a guitar cover!

With the new Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 in my arsenal, I cannot resist not setting up my gear to the maximum capability today. Experimented with sounds all day long today. Finally able to use the Tech 21 Blonde for its sole purpose of being an amp simulator and finally recording via an audio interface.

Tonight was a noisy night, with my parent's friends coming over for dinner. I, however, no longer need quiet times to record anymore. I can just record whenever I like, and then merge with a muted video before adding music. Life just got so much easier.

Today, the song choice is My Future Decided by Hillsong United. A very spot on song regarding my life situation at the moment, this song is fun to play. A catchy intro riff with dotted 8th as usual, I had my SP Compressor, Timmy, Timeline and HoF 2 on throughout the song. I decided to leave the Timmy on because it's such a wonderful transparent drive.

The only time I switched off the OCD is during the verses, where a cleaner tone is required. The Blonde was also on the entire time, with the amp sim engaged. I used Plate reverb today because I didn't need sounds too spacious. I also switched from Dual Delay to Digital Delay here because I don't want too many repeats.

Still, I managed to screw up some parts, like the solo for example. I found nothing online that accurately tabs out the solo so I decided to learn it by ear. And the result was kinda messed up. I also couldn't "bond" with the chords because I can't seem to get the timing correct. Oh well, I'll leave that for another day!

And with that, my long weekend concludes. Looking forward to graduation parade this coming Sunday!

📖 Psalm 95:1-2

O come, let us sing unto the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the Rock of our salvation! Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song.
