🎎 Look To The Son

It has been quite a while since I recorded a new song for my YouTube channel. As I was scrolling through wondering which song to re-cover, I figured I'd record a new song this time. Selected this song called Look To The Son by Hillsong.

This is a very light-driven song but exciting to play. The use of dotted 8th is ever so present in Hillsong's music. The tough part of this song is alternating between power chords, 5th power chords and two-finger plucking. Crazy insane that I redid the recording a million times.

I chose to use the Helix Floor today because I wanted to try using a dual delay to accomplish the verse plucking effect. Most of my presets don't have what I'm looking for, except this Jesus Culture preset from WT. I'm really looking for that exact spaced out dual delay sound.

Then this being a dotted 8th light overdrive song, the Telecaster was the no-brainer. Need that chime to shine through the verses and pre-chorus. Really just alternated between two snapshots only. One clean with light delay for the pre-chorus and one crunch with heavier dual delay for the rest.

Today is a special day. Today my younger brother finally enlisted into the army as a Commando trainee. This throws me back to the good old days when I also recorded a guitar cover before I enlisted. His absence for the next 2 weeks means I can turn our room into my own personal studio, which I promptly did so after he left.

Looks amazing right? My hopes and dreams one day is to have a studio of my own in my very own flat. Imagine just being to jam on the guitar whenever I want to without having to set up and tear down everything each time I have the feel. How great would that kind of life be???

O come, let us sing unto the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the Rock of our salvation! Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song.
