It's finally the 2nd last month of dreadful 2021!!! Covid really took its toll on everyone after stretching into this year. I felt it deep in my bones and just can't wait for this season to be over. With that, I finally sat down and recorded a lead guitar cover of a timeless classic, Reign In Us, by Starfield.
After snapping some awesome pictures of my gear few days ago, I just cannot resist not using them, and that was my main motivation. However, that also became the crippling thought to use only one guitar in this cover. I wanted to do a dual electric, single bass and single acoustic take, but Reign In Us pretty much can't hear the acoustic guitar at all.
What I do hear throughout the song is the lead guitar's lines, which I tried my best to replicate. Really nice distortion going on and big quarter delays. Stacked both my dirt pedals together into an AC30 amp sim. What I didn't understand is today's set was rather low in volume. Had to compensate the volume in Final Cut Pro.
Also, probably the other factor contributing to this slight laziness is the fact that Apple just released the best laptop to date, the 2021 M1 Pro MacBook Pro. I have been researching these past weeks to justify an upgrade. Currently, editing videos on my current MacBook takes quite a while and can sometimes crash the app.
I can already smell the new MacBook Pro coming my way, well before I start university next year. It will surely make music and video production a whole lot smoother on my end. Let's wait and see. Until then, peace out!
