🚢🏻‍♂️ Little Giant

If you know the brand Xotic, you will know why the title of my post is "Little Giant".

Can you spot that "Little Giant"?

Hello guys! Welcome (back) to my blog! After some crazy 7 posts last month, I thought I would take quite a long break from blogging. But everytime I click on the Carousell icon, I will get something new for myself. We call this the Gear Acquisition Syndrome (GAS). But I doubt I would be buying anything else after this post. Most of the pedals on my board are what I intend to obtain since the beginning of the year. The only thing left on my board that could be replaced is my Boss OS-2, but I highly doubt so, unless a ProCo Rat 2 flashes by. Well, saving the best for last, I have finally replaced my compressor pedal! Woohoo! πŸ˜‚

May I present to you, the Xotic SP Compressor, bought at $150 2nd hand on 30th October 2016. This is the best compressor out there. It is number one on every website I visit, hence I just have to get it. This pedal have amazing versatility, having a 3-way toggle switch on top and 4 DIP switches underneath. The DIP switches are for me to play around with the compressor's attack, while the toggle switches are there for modes.

But all these could still be on par with most compressor pedals. What sets the Xotic SP apart is its blend knob. It just sounds so sweet no matter which direction I turn it. Of course, another huge reason to get this pedal is its small size. Don't underestimate it though, it is quite heavy for a small pedal. With real estate getting more serious in version 1.8 as the number of pedals increase, who wouldn't want a pedal this small? And with such versatility in a small space, no wonder people call it the "Little Giant"! πŸ˜Ž

And yay! The extra cables arrived. With the splitter adapter, now I can power all my pedals. But if you do the Math, there is one extra splitter and one extra power cable. Hint hint. Not gonna say anything now because I am running out of cash, but who knows? We gotta prepare for emergencies right? πŸ˜

Okay, maybe the SP Compressor isn't my last upgrade; this Pedaltrain 3 hard case is. The zipper on my soft case broke down and I have been trying to find a replacement else I won't be able to bring my pedalboard out. I don't really mind at first, since I have no reason to bring my board out of my house. But now, I was invited to play as electric guitarist at one of the smaller services just for once. Sensing it might be my only chance at playing for God right before I enter NS, it's time to get this case. And I got it for $120, 2nd hand. πŸ’Έ

Just look at it, that amount of space is insane. I can even put my cables inside. This means I won't need to put my cables in my backpack now. I could even squeeze in a socket multiplier inside, since I am using 2 sockets to power my board and 1 socket to power the amplifier. HOWEVER, this case weighs a ton. No joke. It weighs at least 20kg when empty; and when I add my board, it becomes insane. I have problems lugging the case back from the MRT station much less say haul it to constant gigs.

I do regret a little since it's so heavy and bulky. I am now leaning more towards the Mono M80 PB2, which is the best of both worlds. But heck, it's retailing at $189 at Swee Lee. If I can get rid of this hard case for at least the original price I paid it for, I don't mind getting the Mono from Swee Lee. Seriously, I didn't think so much about the case back when I only got like 4 pedals. Now it's the main problem on my list. I do hope I get this settled soon, it's getting quite tiring running to and fro just to get my gear,.. πŸ˜ͺ

Who knew tone could be so expensive? πŸ˜•
