ðŸŽĩ Just Trying Out

Oh dammit I bought another analog pedal again. I swore never to go back analog after falling in love with the Line 6 Helix. But somehow I accidentally stumbled onto this post on Carousell selling the Fulltone Fulldrive 2 for $90.

I've seen Fulldrive 2s go up to $150 at times so mine tonight was quite a steal. The 1st offerer backed down so just nice I'm 2nd in line. Raced over to the seller's house on my bike after bookout dinner with my regulars. A short and sweet deal was made.

Reached home and tested it both through my Line 6 HX Stomp and through the Yamaha THR10C amp profiles. Signed my name inside the casing of the pedal and closed it up for good. Gave it a good clean up and now it looks as good as new.

This pedal looks even more amazing in real life than on the pedalboards on YouTube. Sadly, I think the one I own now is the 1st version of this pedal. I've seen Fulldrive 2s with the word "MOSFET" on it's front so mine isn't that version. Still, it's worth a try.

Sound-wise, I think the Fulltone OCD will win over it in many cases. The 2nd switch is just a boost switch, essentially making this a dual-channel overdrive with huge cleans via the boost switch. As if the boost isn't enough, the volume knob can be pulled up to decrease compression, which in turn increases volume by a huge margin.

The cut in compression gives the overdrive a less smooth sound which I generally don't prefer. So most of the time I am playing it with compression during drive mode and without compression during clean mode. Definitely will keep this pedal for awhile before exploring other options.

***As of 4th January 2019, this pedal is no longer with me. It has been traded for a Dunlop Mini Wah pedal.
