This was a really really unexpected purchase. I wasn't even looking to replace any of my dirt pedals. I just casually scrolled and saw one on Carousell and suddenly the stars aligned in my head. The first thing that instantly attracted me to this pedal is its orientation. Being landscape instead of portrait, it fits below my HX Stomp perfectly. Not to mention the impeccable top-mounted jacks.
Initially, that wasn't a good enough reason for me to splurge on this because it is still a $200 dirt pedal after all. Then the next reason sold me. Upon further research online, this pedal is actually 3-in-1. With a simple hold on the footswitch, I can toggle between a Klon, Tubescreamer and Plexi styled drive. Like wow. I really do need a Klon-pedal on my board!!!
So today, after chancing upon this pedal in the morning, I went out at night to get it. Sweet stuff! The pedal was in amazing condition, after having been taken care of by another worship guitarist, who shipped in this pedal himself. It even comes with this very cool pouch from the brand. This $200 gonna kick off one of the two Snake Oil pedals on my board.
Seriously though, this is a very handsome pedal. And this is the first time I'm trying own a landscape-oriented pedal with top-mounted jacks. Just knowing that Hillsong's best guitarist, Nigel Hendroff, created this pedal is enough to keep me excited for time to come! The Droff knows best!
So right now, after a whole day of research, it seems that The Very Thing pedal is more well-loved by the community than the Marvelous Engine pedal. And to me, I definitely would keep the Very Thing around for its TS-styled boost function. So off goes the Marvelous Engine! And my, my, does the board look so much better now!!!
Unfortunately, no matter how hard I try, I don't have long enough patch cables to put the volume pedal between dirt and wet effects. I can only run the volume pedal first or second in chain, with respect to a compressor pedal. The dirt section is done for now. Looks sweet and sounds great!
