Just last Sunday, I went around town for some shopping. I went inside the same Yamaha shop where I bought my THR10C amplifier and TRBX174EW bass guitar from. I sat there for 15 whole minutes playing that particular model and pulled the gun on it. It was $779 for non-members but thankfully I am one, so the final price was $662.15 (15% off).
This guitar is quite different from my Maestro Protege SA-1CE. The major difference is the wood used and the visual aesthetics. This guitar uses rosewood for it's back and sides, which sounds significantly darker than the sapelli woods on the SA1-CE. The added bindings on the neck and headstock makes it a keeper.
I then travelled over to Davis Guitar to get some accessories needed to welcome the new guitar into the family. First up was new strings. Obviously I was gonna send it for a setup so new strings are a must. I also need a strap pin to be installed into the heel joint so I bought a set.
Then I bought a leather strap from Davis as well. Been looking to get a decent strap for a really long time so might as well. Although expensive, I am determined that this strap will serve me well for years to come.
All these accessories costed me quite a bit. Since I got the 15% off on the guitar, I used the money on buying these, and it still doesn't cost me as much if I'm a non-member of Yamaha.
With that, my next step is to find a decent setup for this new gem. I need to install the strap pin and get the action smooth. But that's something else for another day. Time to resize my collection!
