Yay the ordering of parts is completed! It was a tough decision to click 'pay' on items that I haven't physically felt before. This is a new journey for me and these are the risks I have to take to succeed. The parts I ordered are as follows:
1. Telecaster Thinline Body - USD$502
Ordered this to be in the Butterscotch Blonde colour because that's my favourite colour on a Telecaster. Got it to be in a swamp ash body with alder top. To me, swamp ash sounds more like a true Telecaster and alder just makes the grain looks so much more natural.
2. Telecaster Maple Neck - USD$317
Ordered this one too just because I get to have compound radius on a maple fretboard with locking tuners. I got stainless steel for the frets because I'm tired of the frets oxidising so easily in Singapore.
3. Thinline Pickguard - USD$30
This part comes together with the body. Choose it to be gloss finished so everything will look new for years to come.
4. Vintage Telecaster 3-Saddle Bridge - USD$21
This item is a must because no matter how comfortable the modern bridge feels, the classic Telecaster feel is the look of this 3-saddle bridge. I'm willing to sacrifice a little comfort to make my dream guitar look more like a dream.
5. Round Top Knobs - USD$5.50
I've already got flat top knobs but I figured I would order round tops to compare side by side which ones are nicer. So far, my only bias towards the round tops are that they reflect light in more than one direction compared to flat tops.
6. Fender Deluxe String Trees - USD$9.90
I really like how the string tree on my Fender Deluxe Strat looks so I ordered these for my Telecaster.
7. Fender Locking Tuners - USD$44.49
Nothing beats having locking tuners even if it's a hardtail bridge. I can't emphasize enough how fast locking tuners make string changes become. And knowing I don't have to keep tuning the guitar as often rocks!
8. Fender 1952 Telecaster Decal - GBP$9.90
Gave up hunting for my own custom made decal. I'm willing to settle for the 1952 version of the decal because it just rocks as well!
*All costs exclude shipping costs. The costs of shipping is crazy but it has to be done. Will include the shipping costs in the next post.
There, all the items I have ordered up till this point in time. Seems like a super expensive purchase but I've sold off necessary gear to recuperate the spending. A few of the items from eBay has already started shipping. The neck and body will unfortunately take at least 8 to 10 weeks. Just in time for Christmas!
This purchase seems very risky because I'm now taking a few parts from the current Telecaster I own, which means I will have to sell the parts of that Telecaster separately. Hopefully I can get some earnings back or else I have to doll up that guitar to put it up on sale as a whole guitar instead.
