So I've done it again. And by "it" I meant selling my PRS 2018 SE Custom 24 in Zebrawood. Remember this? Yeah that was when I sold this exact guitar for the first time because I was about to acquire the Helix. Then many moments later, this happened and I once again own this awesome guitar.
Due to it's awesome weight and catchy colours, I didn't even hesitate when I bought it a 2nd time. Back in January 2019 I was left with only my Edcaster and getting this PRS as my 2nd guitar was a no-brainer. I was once again happy because it served as my humbuckers-equipped guitar.
Brought it up on stage a few times and had loads of fun with it. Seriously no regrets with this bad boy. Of course today I had my reasons for selling it, and it's highly likely for good this time. Here's why:
Firstly, it's the Gibson Les Paul. Always has been, always will be. Not too long ago I finally realised no other humbuckers-equipped guitar can beat the legendary Les Paul. The LP sounded more legit than the PRS. Can't really describe in words but I know now the PRS has failed in this department.
PRS sounded more thin than ever and yes, still good for cleans, but I've got a Thinline Telecaster covering that area. I'd rather open up the 3rd guitar slot for something like P90s, or Filtertrons, or even EMGs. Definitely do not need two humbucking guitars right now.
Secondly, I need money. I'm beginning to piss myself off still editing videos on a Windows laptop. Yes, I think I'm finally done with my 7-year-old computer. Planning to get a MacBook next for their amazing multimedia capabilities. Thinking of all the complex covers I can make, layers upon layers, surely it will increase the quality of my videos.
So definitely this $810 I made from selling the PRS for good will go into a new MacBook. The 3rd guitar can probably wait till next year. Having a Gibson Les Paul and my Edcaster is more than enough for me in this life.
Lastly, it's GAS. What else were you expecting? Selling this PRS will open up one guitar slot for my next guitar. Or next piece of gear. Or whatever. An analog pedalboard with HX Stomp in it is still floating around the back of my mind somewhere. In short, this frees up space for my GAS to activate again.
Definitely won't be buying this PRS back again. 24 frets really ain't my thing anyway. Goodbye dear PRS 2018 SE Custom 24. You will be missed and remembered. :)
So what now? Play my 2 most favourite guitars on the planet of course!
