This is gonna be one super duper long post because I've owned tons of pedals. But it has to be done for records' sake. Here goes!
The very first few pedals I got in my life are the Boss pedals. Super easy to use and learn on. Back then, I knew nothing about pedals and these 4 pedals helped me dive into that world. Sweet sounding pedals, especially the Boss OS-2. Miss it a lot but definitely won't buy it again because there are better drives out there. Definitely would recommend these to beginners!
Used to own a Line 6 M13 before diving into the world of analog pedals. Found out that there's a mini version called the M5 and what a blessing it was! So many effects in one tiny box. Eventually sold it away because it's still considered quite huge for what it can only do. Now with the HX Stomp, the M5 is facing extinction soon!
This is the pedal that influenced my decision to go analog. The Line 6 M13 can't get me to the Guns N Roses tone so this should work right? Wrong. Turns out wah-ing mid-song is actually a very tough thing to do. Lost interest soon after and decided to sell it away. Again, too bulky for my taste.
Never regretted my decision to own this pedal. Truly a legendary pedal that everyone loves. Sounds so great as a drive that makes tube amps scream. I can do wonders with this pedal and it grows to be a staple in my boarding journey. Even now in my Line 6 Helix I still use a drive based on the TS9. Legit pedal over here.
Experienced noise problems with all the distortion that I thought my pedal setup was the problem. So I got an MXR Noise Gate to curb the issue. Unfortunately, I learnt the hard way that noise gates actually cuts more than just noise. It cuts sustain too. Was a rather nice pedal to have though.
Enter the Ditto Looper. Crazy fun pedal that introduced new dynamics to my playing. Unfortunately I am not fully utilising a looper pedal so I sold it off. Later on you will see that I eventually will get a looper that's excellent for its job.
The Hall of Fame pedal does its job very well. I had no regrets upgrading from the Boss RV-5 to this pedal. Seriously the only effect I used all the time is the spring reverb. Nothing beats spring reverb, well, other than shimmer. This pedal stayed on my board for a very long time.
This delay is a rather interesting one. Going by analog style, it was a delay that degrades naturally unlike digital delays. Very cool pedal to have when making solo songs. Unfortunately the lack of tap tempo killed me a little and I also sold it off to free up precious space.
I don't really know what to make of this effect. I've heard how nice chorus effects are in a song but they are just not my thing. Didn't really use it much back in those days and certainly ain't gonna buy another chorus pedal ever again.
Oooooh this is one sweet pedal. Never regretted buying this one. Even so now, I wouldn't hesitate twice to get this as my compressor pedal. Unbelievable tone and feel from this one. Super versatile and I highly recommend it to everyone. This pedal stayed on my board for the longest period of time than every other pedal.
Ahhh finally a wah pedal in a cute size. Had a lot of fun with this one because of the increased sweep angle. Also, the internal DIP switches made things even more interesting. Definitely would buy another one now if I have the chance to.
The Boss DD-3's lack of tap tempo pissed me off so much that I decide to hunt for its older brother. Got it in the form of the Boss DD-5 and was quite happy with it. Classic tone classic look. Couldn't be happier that I owned a discontinued pedal in mint condition!
This is another pedal that didn't leave my board until the Line 6 Helix entered my life. Does what its meant to do well.
Ordered this pedal from PedalPartsPlus and assembled it myself. Was quite happy with the results as I could tap in the stage tempo and no longer worry about being out of sync. Great experience putting together my own pedal.
Classic tuner pedal. Tuning and muting couldn't get any easier with the Polytune 2. Still miss the shining LEDs till this day. More retro feel compared to the Boss tuner. :)
Yes to my most favourite dirt pedal in all my life! When I finally laid hands on this pedal, I was at the happiest point in my life. Words alone can't describe what having this pedal means to me so maybe clicking on that link might give you an insight to this pedal!
The EHX Soul Food is the most worth pedal for its price. Just under $100, this pedal does the amazing job of copying a Klon Centaur pedal. Some say the Soul Food sounds even nicer than the Klon. That's just the saying. I think it really sounds great for the value.
Worship music needs octave pedals, they said. The EHX Nano POG is good for that purpose, they said. The Nano POG is cheap, nobody said. Yeah too expensive for doing just one thing. Feels kinda lame to me. Didn't manage to use it a lot also mainly because I don't really find the need for it.
Enter the most expensive pedal I ever owned. I've long heard of Strymons being a staple in the worship scene. Now I've experienced it first hand and I can only say they are overrated. Yes, it's a beast for what it can do, but honestly overkill unless you got a massive board.
After my church went direct, I had to get a pedal that helps me go direct as well. Wanted to get one of the AMT pedals, but Ebenex prompted me to get the Tech 21 Blonde instead. So I did. Great pedal to be honest. Used it for quite a bit before selling when the Helix came in.
This is one sick pedal. Love it to bits because of its truly clean and transparent overdrive powers. I can use this pedal any day and make any rig sound amazing. Even on the Helix today, I am using a Timmy effect and it just makes me so happy hearing it.
The Hall of Fame got a version upgrade and this one came with shimmer reverb. Sounds super duper cool. Didn't really use the MASH feature because I find no need to. Classic reverb pedal, easily the best one yet.
Ah ha. This is one distortion pedal that I don't hate. It gave me the capability to reach high gain territory with such a clear sound. The look of the pedal is very stylish too. Got this pedal at a crazy cheap price and is honestly one of the more fun pedals.
Still got a looper pedal again because since the Mini Ditto, I've actually learnt how to make full use of the looper effect and had a lot of fun with it. Eventually passed on this pedal to a friend because now I have the Helix.
Enter the last pedal I ever added to my pedalboard. Searched a rather long time for this pedal because it's very very rare in Singapore. This is single-handedly the most versatile overdrive I've owned. Can go from super clean to blasting leads without losing quality. Hands down a great pedal indeed!
This is considered a pedal in my opinion because it easily fits any pedalboard I can find. But it's so much more than just a pedal. It is a mega powerhouse, packed into a tiny enclosure. Inside it are hundreds of effects and thousands of ways to pair them up. Easily my best purchase so far.
This was the first pedal that arrived even after I have both the Helix and HX Stomp. Saw this going cheap on Carousell and wanted to give it a shot. Cool pedal in my opinion, but there's much better options out there. Eventually sold it away after trying for a little while.
This is the latest pedal I owned. I loved it a lot because of its amazing versatility. People say that this pedal isn't meant for blasting leads and it really isn't (which is why I sold it). Very cool pedal though, quite easy to understand why it is Wampler's flagship pedal.
This is the cheapest decent Tubescreamer clone out there in the market! Have heard great things about this pedal and sure enough it didn't disappoint! Great to use as background art too for how cheap it is!
This is the cheapest decent Timmy clone out there in the market! Have heard great things about this pedal and sure enough it didn't disappoint! Great to use as background art too for how cheap it is!
